The Andis T-Outliner Trimmer and the Andis Outliner II rank as one of the best beard/hair trimmers you can buy.
The only difference between the two models is the length and shape of the blade.
This is a review of the Andis T-Outliner.
The Andis T-Outliner is perfect for detailed, precision work.
Best for outlining and fading as well as for trimming necks, beards, mustaches, goatees, sideburns and edging around ears.
It has been the industry leader for its class, over 20 years, and apart from a few upgrades, has kept its original design.

Professional Or Home Use Trimmer
Make no mistake, the Andis T-Outliner was designed for a professional, to be used in a barbershop or salon, and that’s its’ main-stay.
However, what I love about this trimmer, is its simplicity and ease-of-use by anyone.
If you have hair that needs to look sharp all the time, this machine will be just what you need.
Those few days and more, between your barber visit, will often be the time when you need to trim away stray or new hairs.
Your beard needs sharper edges, your hairline needs defining again. Now you can keep a smart, sharp look by using the T-Outliner at home.
A cheap blade could also leave you with burns and rashes, as the blade tugs at the skin rather than slices through the bottom of the hair.
The Andis T-blade is made from carbon steel, which lasts up to five times longer than a regular steel blade and stays sharper for longer.
Andis also applies a special chrome finish to their blades to reduce corrosion and maintain the highest cutting performance.
The design of the T-shaped blade helps with more detailed trimming, fading, and hair tattooing.
If you just want this trimmer for precision work and sharp lines, then the quality of this blade is all you need.
The driving force behind any clipper or trimmer is obviously the motor.
It is essential the motor not only delivers good power to the trimmer blade but also lasts many years without a drop in performance.
The motor inside the Outliner II incorporates a powerful magnet that uses electricity to drive the trimmer blade.
The result is an incredibly powerful motor that runs longer and quieter than conventional rotary motors.
Unfortunately, there’s still no technology to prevent the build-up of heat radiating to the blade, and after 10 to 15 minutes of continual use, the blade does become quite hot.
Applying cooling spray every so often will help keep the heat from building up.
Design and Build Quality
The design of the Andis T-Outliner is by no means a ‘work of art’. It is a plain white plastic color and has a shell-like effect for grip.
It comes with a heavy-duty, 8ft cord and a little loop so you can hook it up when not in use.
To be honest, it’s not the sexiest looking trimmer out there! But the build quality more than makes up for its ‘pug-like’ looks!
However, it is perfectly weighted, which makes for better handling and performance.
This is a ‘no frills’ trimmer that doesn’t come with any accessories.
Not even a pouch or case to store it in!
Okay, I lied.. it actually comes with a small tube of clipper oil!
However, If you want any extras, you’ll need to buy them separately.
Andis T-Outliner Snap-on Guide Combs
For trimming a fuller head of hair or beard, you’ll need to purchase the guide combs set, that are specific to the T-Outliner Trimmer.
These guide combs only fit the T-Outliner and come in the following sizes:
#0, 1/16 inch, 15 mm
#1, 1/8 inch, 3 mm
#2, 1/4 inch, 6 mm
#3, 3/8 inch, 10mm
Storage/Travel Case for Andis Professional T-Outliner
Having a case to store your clipper is a must if you want to look after it, and prevent damaging it.
This sturdy Clipper Case is waterproof and shockproof, and will easily fit the Andis T-Outliner or the Outliner II.
It also has a mesh pouch to store your guide combs, scissors, and hair combs.
Zero Gap Tool Setter
Being able to zero gap your T-Outliner blades will give you that extra sharp, crisp finish, that makes all the difference to a hair cut.
Sure you can do it yourself, but the 10 Second Blade Setter makes life so much easier and eliminates the guesswork.
This nifty tool will enable you to align your blades quickly, easily, and precisely.

Andis T-Outliner V Andis Outliner II
If you’re wondering which of the two trimmers to buy, consider what you’re likely to use them for.
Both models have virtually the same specifications. The only noticeable difference being the size of the blades.
The Andis Outliner II has a smaller, conventional, square blade.
The Andis T-Outliner has a longer T shaped blade and is the next-generation model to the Outliner II.
The T shaped blade allows you to cover greater areas and be more precise with trimming around the ears and under the nose.
It also gives you a better view when ‘cutting in’, or for more detailed work such as hair tattoos.
Here’s a great video explaining the difference between the two models..
Almost every review I’ve read about this much sought after trimmer has been positive and full of examples of how guys have achieved a better ‘look’ and ‘cut’ than their previous trimmer gave them, and how easier on the skin it is.

Andis T-Outliner – Cordless
If you prefer to have a cordless version of the best selling T-Outliner, then you’re in luck!
Andis has now produced the 74000 Professional Cordless T-Outliner Beard/Hair Trimmer, and claim to have put their most powerful, lithium-ion batteries inside.
It lasts for over 100 minutes, after just 1 hour of charging. That’s pretty impressive.
Obviously, you have a lot more freedom with a cordless model, but be prepared to pay more than double the price for the privilege.
If you can afford it, stretch the budget, because cordless is the way forward, and the T-Outliner is worth your investment.
Andis T-Outliner Trimmer, Black
Want your T-Outliner in a smart-looking black?
You got it!
For a few dollars more, you can have a cool, glossy, black number – the Andis 04775 Professional GTX T-Outliner Beard/Hair Trimmer, Black.
Same spec, different color.
It goes without saying, I prefer the black model. It just looks the nuts!
When it comes to detailed work around the hair, beard, ears, or neckline, you need a quality trimmer you can trust.
Don’t waste your time on cheap beard trimmers, you’ll only regret it, and end up paying for a good quality one in the end!
For sheer quality and performance, the Andis T-Outliner offers excellent value for money.
This is a professional use trimmer but there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t use it at home.
This trimmer is as good as it gets for detailed, trimming work.
